Olives & Virgin Olive Oil Day with Tastings & Lunch

Olive oil is the basis of the Mediterranean, Greek and of course Messinian food & has been proved to be part of an ideal healthy diet for longevity. Since ancient times, the Greek and Messinians have been involved with the cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil.

Messinia is a place rich in olive trees and olive oil production; it is famous for two kinds of olives, known worldwide for their superiority, the KALAMATA OLIVE of the table variety and the KORONI OLIVE of the oil variety.

The best season for you to take this trip is during the harvest season, from mid-October to the end of January every year. During this season we have the opportunity to collect the fruits from the farm’s olive trees. You will learn everything regarding cultivation, processing and production, from olive picking to the bottling of olive oil or preparation of edible table olives.

During the non-harvest months you can still enjoy a walk through the endless olive groves, touch and smell the trees and get involved in their annual cultivation and care. You can plant an olive tree seedling on our farm and after 4-5 years we can send you home “your own extra virgin olive oil” for a real “Personal Enjoyment”! If you are in a hurry you can adopt an adult olive tree too!  (This will be the Greatest Experience and perfect Memory from Greece).

Your experience ends at our farm with tasting of various extra virgin olive oils, aromatic olive oils, table olives and olives “pate”. You’ll learn to recognize the various qualities and characteristics of an authentic “Extra Virgin Olive Oil” and to omit the various “commercial terms”.

Enjoy a tasty traditional lunch on the farm accompanied with  toasted

bread made in a wood burning oven and topped with various extra virgin olive oils, olives and olive “pate”, various local delicatessen, salads with various “olive oil dressings” and lots of wine and ouzo.

Finally, filled with experiences and knowledge we will return you to the meeting point

We suggest you bring a sun hat, sunglasses, comfortable clothes, a pullover or a long-sleeved shirt or jacket and shoes with flat soles. Don’t forget your favourite music and your camera
